Why Famloop

Honest by design, not by promise.

Plenty of apps say they respect your family's privacy. The difference shows up in what the app does when the truth is inconvenient — when a phone goes quiet, when someone pauses sharing, when there is no location worth showing.

A stale fix is never dressed up as live

Freshness is derived every time it is displayed, never cached. "Live" requires an active session and a very recent fix, so a phone that stopped reporting hours ago cannot show as current — which is the single most common way a location app misleads you.

Pausing actually stops sharing

When someone pauses, location uploads stop. Not just the pin — the data. Their Loop sees "Sharing paused", so nobody mistakes a frozen position for a current one.

No gaps invented on a map

When history has no reliable location for a stretch of the day, Famloop marks a gap. It will not interpolate a plausible-looking route between two distant points and let you believe it happened.

Everyone joins by choice

Each person installs the app, enters an invite code and grants location permission themselves. There is no way to add someone remotely, and no hidden mode — by design, not by omission.

Failures are reported, not hidden

If a check-in or an SOS does not send, Famloop tells you plainly instead of showing a tick. Your family is never told something happened when it did not.

No ads, and nothing sold

Famloop is paid for by the people who use it. There are no ads, no public profiles and no stranger discovery. Your location is visible only inside the Loops you have joined.

The limits are the feature

What Famloop will not do.

These are not features waiting on a future release. Each one is something a family locator could do, and Famloop has chosen not to.

  • Locate a phone by number, without the app installed
  • Run hidden, or track anyone who has not opted in
  • Show a location without showing how old it is
  • Read messages, browsing, screen time or app usage
  • Sell or share your family's location with advertisers

Famloop also does not contact emergency services. SOS alerts your Loop — in a real emergency, call your local emergency number first.

The gap is the honesty Where there was no trustworthy location, the history says so.

Your controls

Everything is reversible.

  • Pause sharing whenever you want For an hour, an evening, or until you turn it back on. Uploads stop.
  • Revoke an invite code Codes expire on their own, and you can kill one early from the Loop tab.
  • Delete your location history Clears your saved history across every Loop you belong to, not just the one you are looking at.
  • Leave a Loop, or delete your account Both from inside the app. Deleting removes your profile and your location data.
