Frequently asked
Does everyone need the app?
Yes. Famloop only works when each person installs it, joins your Loop and turns on location sharing themselves. There is no way to add someone by phone number, and no hidden or silent mode — that is a deliberate design decision, not a missing feature.
How do I invite my family?
Create a Loop and share the invite code it gives you. The other person installs Famloop, enters the code and chooses to start sharing. Codes expire, and you can revoke one at any time from the Loop tab.
What do the Signal states mean?
Every member's location carries a state describing how fresh it actually is: Live (sharing now, with a fix from seconds ago), Updated X ago, Offline, Sharing paused, or Permission needed. Live requires both an active session and a very recent fix — age alone is never enough. If a phone has not reported in hours, Famloop says so.
Someone shows as "Permission needed" — how do I fix it?
That means a device setting is blocking updates. Open Signal Check on that phone: it names the exact setting involved and links straight to it. The usual causes are location granted only while using the app rather than all the time, precise location turned off, or battery saving shutting the app down — Low Power Mode on iPhone, battery optimisation on Android.
Can I stop sharing temporarily?
Yes, and pausing genuinely stops location uploads rather than just hiding your pin. Your Loop sees a "Sharing paused" state, so nobody is misled into thinking a stale position is current.
How does a Safe Arrival Timer work?
Choose a destination and an arrival time. You get a reminder before the deadline, and you check in with one tap when you arrive. If you do not, Famloop alerts the family members you picked and includes your last known location — and the alert arrives even if the app is closed.
What is in the Free plan?
One Loop of up to 3 members, 2 saved places, 1 Safe Arrival Timer, 2 days of location history, plus place alerts, SOS and check-ins. No ads, and no time limit.
What does Premium Family add?
Up to 5 Loops of 10 members, 50 places, 20 concurrent timers and 365 days of history — plus repeating Safe Arrival Timers, driving and speed alerts, trip summaries and PDF history export. One purchase covers everyone in your Loop.
How do I cancel or manage my subscription?
Whichever store you subscribed through handles the billing, so it is managed there rather than inside Famloop: Apple Account subscriptions on iPhone, or Google Play subscriptions on Android. If you cancel, the Free plan keeps working — nothing is deleted.
Can I delete my location history or my account?
Both, from inside the app. "Delete my history" clears your saved history across every Loop you belong to, and deleting your account removes your profile and your location data.
Does Famloop call emergency services?
No. SOS alerts the people in your Loop with your location and battery level. It is not connected to 911 or any emergency service, so in a real emergency call your local emergency number first.
Which devices and languages are supported?
iPhone on iOS 18 or later, and Android. Famloop is available in English, Spanish (Mexico) and German.
Can my family mix iPhones and Android phones?
Yes. A Loop is the same Loop whichever phone you are on — the same map, the same Signal states, the same timers and alerts. Nothing is iPhone-only or Android-only.
